Please contact us with any questions not answered in the FAQ.
Do you offer a printed catalog?
Due to the size and nature of our business, we do not offer a printed catalog. Samples of all the designs shown on the website are available for purchase to show you the quality of our work.
What methods of payment do you accept?
Glad you asked! We cannot begin work on your order until payment has been received and processed. Personal checks or credit or debit cards via PayPal services are acceptable forms of payment.
Will I be charged tax?
We are a professional business located in the Greater Kansas City metro area, so Kansas and Missouri residents are subject to sales tax.
How does the custom design process work?
Once you have received a quote for your order, a 30% deposit (or a minimum of $150) is required to begin the design process. After your deposit has been received, you’ll fill out our online information form which gives us the details necessary to begin creating your proofs. Sample font, monogram and motif options will be send via email in a .pdf file for you to review, and based on your selections an initial round of three layouts will be created. Two more rounds of edits are included in your standard pricing. Revisions in addition to this will be subject to a fee of $10 per request. Once all items have been approved, the balance of your order is due, and once received, your stationery package is scheduled for production. Your order will ship 4-6 weeks later.
Can you provide custom-drawn maps for my invitation suite?
Yes! Custom drawn maps start at $45 for designs.
Can I order invitation samples or paper swatches?
Of course! We offer a variety of invitation samples pulled from previous orders that you can purchase to see the quality of our work. If we’re trying to match the exact shad of mint green, paper swatch samples are available as well for you to review.
What programs do you use in the layout and design of your products?
We are a professional design studio and we utilize industry-standard programs in the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) These programs allow us to work with our outside vendors and provide excellent pre-press files and eliminate any confusion in the transfer of files prior to printing. Powerpoint, Word, and Publisher and not suitable programs to support the intricacies of our work.
Can you reproduce a design from another company that I like?
While you may show us a piece that has inspired you, we cannot and will not reproduce work that infringes on another designer’s ideas.
I ordered a custom monogram from another company. Can you use this monogram on my stationery?
As this is design work from another artist, we cannot use this. We may be able to customize your design as inspired by the monogram. An additional concern is that many of the monograms are sent in flat files (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) that are not suitable for editing or printing. This is why you might see jagged edges or blurred images when you attempt to resize a monogram on your computer at home.
Can you send me the fonts you used to create my invitation so I can make my own coordinating pieces?
Unfortunately, no. We would love to work with you on accompanying pieces for your order, but we cannot forward fonts or designs to be reproduced outside of our supervision. It’s extremely important to us to protect the integrity and quality of our design and products, and we’ve developed relationships with manufactures and companies in a variety of industries so that we can provide the favors, banners, and anything else you would need to complete your vision for your event.
Do you proof my order?
Please double-triple-quadruple check your proofs as Paper Mill Designs is not responsible for proofing your order. It’s always helpful to have a few sets of eyes review things before submitting your final approval to go to production. An old printers trick is to read everything right to left, so you have to focus on each individual word outside of the context of the sentence. If reprints are necessary due to errors in proofing, Paper Mill Designs will work with clients to reprint pieces at the client's expense.
How are your invitations printed?
The majority of our projects are letterpress printed on our in-house antique 12 x 18 Chandler and Price press.
We als offer flat printing, thermography and engraving.
Do my invitations arrive assembled?
It depends on the style of stationery ordered. Some invitations may include assembly and some may ship unassembled, ready for you to stack, stamp, stuff and mail. The descriptions in our portfolio specify if assembly is included. If you have any question, just ask!
Are stamps included with my RSVP envelopes?
Occasionally, an invitation package will be sealed and require the RSVP stamps to be affixed prior to delivery. In this situation, you will be billed separately for the cost of postage. If you would prefer we stamp the envelopes on our end, please tell us and we’ll let you know the additional handling fee for this service.
How much will it cost to mail my invitation?
Most of our invitations mail at the 2 oz. postal rate, but it’s always a good idea to take a few sets in to the post office to be weighed, just in case. Square invitation sets mail at the oversized rate and boxed mailers mail at the package rate.
What is hand-cancelling?
Hand-cancelling is when the USPS hand-stamps your invitations to “cancel” the postage, instead of running the envelopes through the automated sorter. Many brides like the old-fashioned look of the hand-cancelling, but you’re not always guaranteed this option from your local post office. If you’re interested in the service, try a smaller post-office during non-peak hours (do not go during lunch!) and ask if hand-cancelling is a service available. Some branches may charge extra, some may not offer the option at all, it just depends.
How will my order be shipped?
We ship via Fed-Ex Ground and UPS Ground to ensure the safe arrival of your package. Shipping is not included in your stationery price, and generally runs about $15-$25 depending on the size of your order. (Paper is heavy!!)
If I am local in the Kansas City area, may I pick up my order to save on shipping?
Of course! Let us know and we’ll work together to coordinate delivery of your order.
Are rush orders available?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Rush orders, if accepted, are subject to additional fees. Upgraded shipping (overnight, 2-day, etc.) is available at an additional cost to the client.
